The new version of Digital Street Map for Romania is released

 

New features in the map:

 

• more than 250.000 km of roads and street (this represents +50% road length regarding any other map for Romania and +27% comparing to the official statistics)
• detailed address and population data is available for all county capitals and for more then 36% of the population of Romania
• traffic restrictions are collected from field for county capitals 

 

More than 250.000 km in the road & street layer

Integrating more than 30 Gigabyte of GPS coordinates and digitising from high resolution orthophotos the new release of our map has 254.543 km length for roads and streets. Every segment stores the width, pavement, lane number and the average speed for that. The layer includes form pedestrian walkways, narrow urban streets without street names and dirt roads to four lane national roads and highways.

With this release we have with +50% more street and road length than the second competitor in the market. In the national evidence of the road infrastructure of the National Company for Highways and National Roads from Romania (CNADNR) there is 198.931 km of road for Romania (see www.cnadnr.ro/pagina.php.

Another great improvement is that the road and street layer is uniform for the whole country and has 3 meter precision.

 

Detailed address and population data in our map

Due to the special building infrastructure of the Romanian cities we spent a lot of energy to accurately locate every block of flats. Altough the blocks of flats represent 1% of the total buildings, there lives more then 65% of the population of the county seats.

Beside the exact address, position of every block of flats we integrate in our database very detailed data about the number and position of the staircases, number of the apartments and the population for every staircase.

In this release we have more then 475.000 addresses covering more than 36% of the whole population of Romania.

 

Traffic restrictions for every county capital

With 17 people in the field we are collecting the traffic restrictions for a complete GPS navigation map for Romania. We are focusing to collect navigation information not only for cars, but also for trucks and buses. Speed limit and other restrictions are also collected for the national roads.
